What are the benefits to my business?

The cost of unmanaged stress and mental health conditions in the workplace was associated with over £74 billion loss to the UK economy last year:

  • Over £37 billion in lost output
  • Over £33 billion in costs for employers and self employed
  • Over £3 billion in cost to the NHS

In addition to the economic loss, poor mental health in the workplace risks your business loosing key expertise, experience and reputation through the loss of skilled employees. Anyone can experience a poor mental health, with 1 in 4 of us experiencing a mental health condition each year. Recent surveys also estimate that 1 in 6 workers right now are experiencing stress, anxiety and depression.

Ensuring you respond appropriately to employees experiencing poor mental health is an obligation under the Equality Act (2010) avoiding expensive litigation.
Supporting mental health in the workplace or “workplace wellbeing” is a clear business priority and is linked with a wide range of benefits:

Increased productivity

Increased profitability

Increased staff retention

Better customer service & outcomes

Increased creativity & innovation

Fewer accidents

Reduced absence

Reduced stress

Increased staff motivation

Improved profile
