Mind’s 2017/18 Workplace Wellbeing Index reveals 59% of respondents would go to work with poor mental health compared to 27% with poor physical health. Are we martyrs? Maybe we don’t think poor mental health justifies a day off? Perhaps every day feels like a bad day…. Perhaps we’ve come back to work because we can’t afford to stay off….. The fact is that many of us turn up to work not feeling 100%; but are all workplaces ready to deal with that? It may be that we hope it goes under the radar, but what if it gets worse? What if our mental health starts to effect our performance? What if we can’t go unnoticed any more? The Workplace Wellbeing Index also revealed 66% of respondents had experienced poor mental health, 73% experienced poor mental health at their current job, but only half of them shared this with their employers. Do we not think they would understand? Maybe we think it will affect our job security or promotion… Are these real or perceived threats? Maybe it’s time your organisation created a culture where it’s okay to talk. Contact us for more information and advice on where to start on your journey.
